Parrot Perch and Chewing Behavior?

Hello fellow bird lovers.

I need a perch for my senegal parrot. He keeps chewing through his wooden ones, so I was thinking solid sanded or cement. I have considered sanded covers for his wooden perches but think he will destroy those as well. Any suggestions on types or best places to buy?

Also, any suggestions on the destructive chewing behavior are welcome. I have tried giving him other things to chew, but he prefers the perches.

Thanks. :)

For Most birds chewing or nibbling is a normal behavior. All birds will chew on one thing or another. Does he have a cuddle bone in his cage? he also could be trying to shorten a beak that is to long. if he is otherwise healthy I would guess the above may be the reason.
Birds beaks do continue to grow like a finger nail would on a person.
They should be cut *By a Vet* periodically to prevent them from getting to long and preventing the bird from eating properly. Their toe nails should be
kept trimmed as well.
As for perch covers, they are ok but are too , a temporary fix. once he reaches the wood he will chew that.

They say that you should offer several different types of perches and different thicknesses so that your bird will have different textures to keep his toenails short and just a change in them.
as for cement perches, I’ve never used them so maybe someone here
will have an opinion on those.
If you’re really concerned, maybe you could ask your vet what he thinks. maybe he would answer that quesition over the phone.
