is it ok to feed my budgie “suet berry feast”?
my dad got this by mistake…it says on the packet that its for “wild birds”…
is it ok to feed my parakeet this??
btw i also want to ask another question….my parakeet is 4 and a half months old and hes a boy. he has been lazy for some reason. i mean, he doesnt really like getting out of his cage…but he is tamed…..he doesnt play that much and he likes sitting on top of a pole in his cage…btw i just got him last monday ( on the 8th)…. why is he being like this? is it because he is molting (due to his age)??? orr is he ill? :[
No it is not suitable for your bird. These type of Fat feeders are mainly for the wild bird population , which tend to be far more active than your bird, whilst it will not do any harm taking a few beak fulls it will not do it any good and will make it overweight.
If your bird is 4.1/2 months old then it will be shortly coming into moult. this causes quite a bit of stress in the first moult of a young bird such as yours.
As you have not had it long ,your bird will be getting accustomed to it’s new surrounds and you, this will take a few days but once settled in will start to show a bit more life
Make sure it has plenty Cuttle bone and green veg such as a small piece of Broccoli, Kale (never lettuce)and small pieces of Apple or Pear. but a very good tonic is soaked sprouting seed.
Take a small amount of seed soak a few Mung beans(bean sprouts) it in warm water , overnight, drain ,rinse ,place somewhere warm till it sprouts(2-3 days)and feed this every day for a 6-10 days then give it as a treat now and again.it is an excellent tonic feed,
