What bird STARTS singing at midnight?

It whistles and warbles, in tremendous variety, starting about 12:15 and all through the night. (This is in Long Island, NY). I thought only owls were out at night and making noises.
Anyone any idea what kind of bird it is?

I think those are called a Mocking bird. we hae one too. and he sits on the phone wire by my back door… and naturally the back door is in my room. so… the lil jerk… its bad luck to kill him or he would be tomrrows dinner. he sings all night long and then when the sun comes… he is gone. He also does something with his beak… i wish he would perch on someone elses wire!
