My sister’s parakeet has stopped chirping since it has been in my room – why?
I’m currently bird-sitting my sister’s parakeet, Sweetie. She normally screeches and chirps (when she is in my sisters room) whenever the water is running, TV or radio is on, doors close or open, or when the cats are meowing. But since I put her in my room she has completely stopped all chirping. I downloaded a couple parakeet sounds/songs and whenever I play them she chirps along with them and bobbs her head (almost as though she were dancing). Anyway, does anyone know why she is doing this? I feel like she might be sick or something! Please help me – any answer or any bit of information would be AMAZING! thank you!
The bird is not sick. It is reacting to unfamiliar surroundings. She is probably bonded with your sister so she is unsure of her new surroundings. The parakeet sounds are working because you say she is reacting to them in a positive manner so keep playing them.
