Do you need a waterfowl stamp to hunt migratory birds in South Dakota? ?

I am of legal age and have a general hunting license and all the other necessary things. I will be hunting on my parents private land, in Gettysburg, South Dakota.

Any information, pointing at links or anything. Will Be Helpful?

yes

migratory birds, as they travel from land to land, each part providing an intirgral step in the bird’s existance, are considered to belong to EVEYONE, and hence under the rules of the federal government not the states. The federal government says you must buy a stamp.

Think about it. If a bird lays it’s eggs in South Dakota, but survives the winter in Florida, removing either one would result in the birds not being able to survive and propigate, so who gets to claim themselves as the bird’s true home?

That’s why states can decide their own regulations on pheasants, turkey, deer, squirrels, whatever, but the federal government has say over migrating animals
