Car roof replacement?

My car was vandalized a couple weeks ago, someone threw a concrete bird bath top through the back window damaging the side quarter panel, roof, trim, etc. The insurance company thought it would be a total loss at first, there was structural damage to the roof, cross members were damaged, etc, but then decided it was fixable. The body shop has welded a salvaged roof onto the car and then painted it and replaced the other damaged parts. I have never heard of a roof being welded onto another car, they say it’s as safe or safer then the original, how true is this? Will the roof hold up if we’d ever get into an accident or roll over? My kids ride in this car so it makes me nervous. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

roofs can be replaced, just depends on how good they did it. the weld has to be very good, we replaced a roof on a jeep cherokee that flipped twice. also depends on where the damage is on the rear side quarter panel and how far down it is. but from the damage your car has it should be ok cause the other 3 corners of the roof are in tact so to say.
