cockatiel not singing anymore?

i’ve 2 cockatiels, a boy and a girl. the boy is about 5 yrs old, the girl is 7. i’ve them since they were babies/weaning. when i bought the boy, he was a great singer. he’d sing his wonderful cockatiel songs every day. however, after they bonded, he stopped singing. i always guess it’s becuz she never cares for his bird songs. she pays absolutely no attention to his singing. eventually, he just stopped. now, he sounds exactly like her, just “FEEEEEE” and “QUEEEEK”.

over the yrs, i’ve tried cockatiel whistles CD (i’m sorry, i just can’t whistle); no use at all. i’ve also downloaded bunch of wild bird songs and cockatiel songs. i play them few times a wk. but he just doesn’t care (neither does she).

he is a playful sweet boy. i’d love to hear him sing again. he’s such a talented singer! pls help.

You may need to separate your birds to strike his interest again. I’ve found that my birds love watching you tube videos of other birds. It really sparks their interest and they learn fast from other birds (especially to talk).

I’d try playing some videos of other cockatiels singing or talking and see how your bird reacts.

Birds learn best from other birds so you should see immediate results.
