How does one tame a wild Blue Jay?
Two Facts:
* A few months ago I was visiting my sister’s collage and I saw a man who had trained a wild Blue Jay to come and eat out of his hand.
* Recently, once a day, at least, I’ve seen a wild Blue Jay scavenging around my yard, assumingly to hunt for some food.
How could and would I be able to train this bird to eat out the palm of my hand like the one with the man from my sister’s collage?
Blue Jays are pretty tame, and very greedy. I’m sure it wouldn’t be that hard. I have bluejays that all but eat out of my hands when I am filling the bird feeders in the morning.
But is it wise to train a wild bird to trust a human that much? With all the horrible people who would harm or kill the blue jay if it went to them expecting a handout, I think it best to keep them wild.
And if you have any thoughts of making a pet out of one and confining it, I should remind you that is illegal.
