Does anyone have recordings of bird calls or songs from monomorphic species? I need plenty of them…?

I’m currently conducting a research project which aims to develop a gender determination software for monomorphic avian species using spectral analysis of digital audio samples of their calls and songs. I need a set of samples from a male and another from a female. I was instructed to focus first on one species to work on. I’ll be using K Nearest Neighbour Classification Algorithm to match the fundamental frequency characteristic of the input to the existing data and my adviser requires me to obtain sufficient amount of samples.

Cornell labs has a library of bird songs, you can contact them and order some. Probably not all are sexed though.

It isn’t clear to me what you’re doing this research for (class project, job, dissertation) and how much effort you plan to put into it, but if you want to do it right, you should get a high quality microphone and plan to spend lots of time in the field next spring. Additionally, if the species are monomorphic, you’re presumably going to want to be doing some banding and marking, so that you can figure out the sex of the bird that is singing?
