We have rats in our house, we have been working with an exterminator any advice?

The rats in our house eat the plants & avoid traps. We’ve tried the leaving out unset traps with nuts, peanut butter, plants they love, bird seed, everything but they avoid them. The exterminators have searched our house inside and out for openings and blocked all they have found. We are out of ideas and cant get rid of them. This has been going on for over a month. What can we do other than selling the house? Thank you.

if they are avoiding foods that you using on the traps there must be another food source they have access to that needs to be addressed… dog food in the dog’s bowl..acorns outside..etc… a forgotten or a product they are eating that you are unaware of. You might try using the plants they are eating on as the trap bait. Areas as far away as 300 feet may need to be addressed, such as if neighbors are raising rabbits or chickens..another neighbor just dumps dog food for the outside dog to eat at it’s leisure, etc

If they are near the kitchen, where the plumbing comes out of the wall for the dish washer and stove are some of the hidden areas they may be getting inside from
