baby (small bird) bird ~ what should i do?

my cat has just been playing with a small bird. i have rescued the bord and put it in a shoe box with a tissue in it . the bird is alive and has its eyes open but keeps opening its beak and letting out this brown fluid. what does this mean ? what should i do to help it ? does it have a chance of living? it is about 2 inches long and very delicate. it canit stand up (might be in shock) and is laying on it’s side.
it wasn’t outside si its mum wasnt coming for it . i dont even think its a baby and its too late it died about 1 miun after i posted the question .
