Is Store bought Bamboo safe for a bird perch?

I have some bamboo poles for decoration in my home, and I was thinking about making one a perch for when my parakeet is out of its cage! What do you think?

Bamboo is a safe wood…errr grass really, for parrots

I buy it untreated at “home depot” and make ladders with it.

The only problem is if you got your bamboo from a store for decoration it might be treated with chemicals already. Or it might be lacquered.
