Cockatiel sits and rests in food bowl?

Hello, thanks for reading. More info;
First time bird owner.
Have had him for a month and so far our relationship is going excellent. Very friendly, affectionate and tame. Still yet learning to talk. Young, appx 12 weeks old.
Huge cage, lots of toys- very happy in there and when out. Well stimulated and entertained.
Lately been sitting in his bowl of seed. Loves his seed but resting in it as if its a nest!
Have been reading past messages with hope of finding answer before posting here, all I have really come up with is He may infact be a She and is ‘egg-bound’?
Diet, personaility and all habits seem normal.
He does have a bed and sleeps in it all night. Very comfortable, clean & warm. Could he just be more cosier on top of the seeds? He still eats them.
Once again, thanks for reading, I hope I have given enough details to receive answers for this ‘thing’ his doing.
:-)

My youngest female has always preferred to sleep in her food dish. Sometimes they just like the feel of it. When birds perch they usually lock their feet onto the perch, this prevents them from falling off. Sometimes they will get fatigued and rest in their food dish or even on the floor. As long as they are eating and everything else, like color weight and health, are fine, then there is really no need to worry.

My female first started sleeping and sitting in her dish as a baby. She is rather lazy when it comes to perching, also she protects the food because she seems to think she is entitled to all of it. 14 yrs later, she is still up to her old tricks. As a result of the food issue, she has gotten rather fat.

Imagine having to stand on a ledge for a long period of time (your legs would begin to cramp), then imagine flopping in a bean bag chair…rather compfy huh?

He’s most likely just doing his thing…besides at that young they usually have not perfected the art of perching.

Just watch his health, I’m sure he’s fine :)
