How come red tailed hawks can eat three punds of meat weekly when the bird itself is only about half a pound?
Red-tailed hawks weigh at least two pounds or sometimes up to 3 lbs. Although they eat, as you say “three punds of meat weekly”, they metabolize and excrete most, if not all of that food. Make sense?
