At night I always hear a “screeching” noise what is it?

it is outside and it really scares me I also have a full grown alaskan malamute/husky runt will it hurt it? Also, it sounds like a bird/eagle/hawk

Perhaps it is not a bird but could be a fox? My neighbor pointed out this noise one night that was BEYOND ERIE that really does sound like unearthly screeching. It turned out that fox make a very scary high pitched noise when they are being territorial. Recently, both my kitty and my neighbor’s kitty came home with serious wounds on their hind quarters that we suspect may be due to this fox. I don’t think a fox would take on a dog but I would always worry about rabid animals. (It is always important to keep your pets shots up to date.)
