Is it really hard to hand feed baby birds?

I have a clutch of love birds and I am wanting to hand feed them… I have read good books and know I can do it I am just nervouse to try
I have watched a breeder do it before and it looks rather easy

There are many things that can go wrong. If you do not have the formula at the right temperature, you can cause crop burn or crop stasis. If you do not get the food in the baby’s mouth the right way, the bird can aspirate and die. You can misjudge the amount of food the bird actually eats (with all that is spilled or ends up on you) and end up with the bird not gaining weight and thriving the way it should.

But do not let this scare you. Many people hand feed their baby birds. The best advice you can get is do NOT get your information from an internet site, or from a book or video. Go to a breeder who hand-feeds the babies and ask to be taught. It is so much better to watch and listen to someone and then have them there to supervise your first efforts.

Before you know it, you’ll be a pro, and wonder why you were so nervous in the first place!
