How can I attract birds to my bird feeders?

Several of my neighbors have feeders so the birds aren’t looking at mine. I have 4 feeders up, one with thistle, a suet feeder, a platform feeder and a tube feeder. I also have a birdbath out for them but its been a week and I haven’t had any takers.

What type of bird seed are you using (besides the suet and thistle)? Is it a general mixed seed? Try black sunflower seeds for birds. I used to use the all purpose seed mix, but found I mostly attracted sparrows and starlings. When I switched to the black sunflower seeds, I’ve had a better variety of birds. It is a bit more expensive, but I think worth it! P.S. The only bird that seems to eat my suet are the woodpeckers, but they are always welcome.
