Bird Owners – Do you really change your bird’s water everyday?
I have a single little lovebird about 6 years old, she lives by herself in a huge black cage. She has a lot of toys and even a little nest she always keeps herself entertained with. With food and water, she has a water bowl and a food bowl, and a small water holder and a food holder for smaller birds to eat out of, I thought she’d like it, but she doesn’t use it.
I’ve always wanted to train my bird to take baths out of the water bowl, and drink out of the water holder, but it doesn’t seem to work. She doesn’t like the water holder. Does anyone know how I could try to train her better to use the water holder?
But my real question to you guys is – do you really change your bird’s water EVERYDAY? I mean, have you never skipped a day?

Our birds have separate sleep and play cages, so they get fresh water at least twice each day. Often more than that, depending how fast they make it dirty during the day (the sleep cage water never gets bad). Add in their food and vegetable dishes, and they generate more dirty dishes than we do.
We have amazons, which are a bit big for bathing in their water bowls. They take showers with us. You could also try misting your lovebird.
