When do I introduce cuttlebone to my baby bird?

My baby bird will be turning a month old this Saturday and I want to now how I can introduce the cuttlebone to him and when. Also, can anyone suggest a good bird food brand that can help my lovebird wean from his formula to pellets?

You don’t have to worry about introducing a cuttlebone to a young bird right away. If you really want to you can hang one in the cage from the start, but the bird probably won’t bother with it until they’re much older. You can start introducing soft foods in addition to his formula now though, the chicks usually don’t eat too much of it, but it’s a good starting time, they mouth at things a lot, and gets them used to the idea that there are other things that are food besides what comes out of a syringe you bring in.

As for pellets, there are lots to choose from, Zupreem makes decent pellets, then there are Harrison’s, Lafebers, and Roudybush which are a little higher quality.
